newborn | maximus x

about 7 years ago i introduced the parents of this guy to each other. mom was a college roommate (i’m not being tricked into saying how long ago). dad worked with me on some TV commercial shoots. from the moment they met, they were madly in love. inseparable. first came love, then came marriage, now the baby carriage.

i’m so excited for them. maximus was a lil vocal during our session at first, but mom and dad knew exactly how to calm him. after only 4 weeks they already know aaaallll about him. love that.

here are just a few quick shots from our 2nd meeting last week.

welcome lil man. you will no doubt live up to your powerful name and conquer all your dreams.

xo

-ps: no watermarks today. can’t distract from this lil man. (oh yeah, and i’m in hawaii on vacation, gotta go outside and enjoy)

giving is awesome | extended deadline

as much as it drives me crazy when other people extend deadlines and i get my in on time, i must do it this one instance.  my amazing friend, paola (mother to the double e’s), has just spread the “giving is awesome” link around children’s hospital LA, where she works in children’s blood disorders.

with the abundance of entries, i am trying to think of way to pick just one person.  i was thinking of possibly doing an open mini-session at a park for a few different families. yet to be decided.

the new deadline is january 20th at 11pm.

if you’ve already entered, please don’t be discouraged. i will still be considering everyone and maybe a few families instead of one.

smoothies | crafty

i loved david bowie growing up. as my father was english, i fell in love with anything “british”.  and even though “let’s dance” may not be the musical genius of all his work, i couldn’t help but blast “let’s dance” & “china girl” on my pink ghetto blaster when i was only 10.  in retrospect “let’s dance” was a bit of a lyrical parody, but at the  time david bowie represented a personal connection. something english. something different. something just fun. so when i met dave bullen of smoothies crafty i had a lil bit of a reminder of these small but precious moments.  there’s a reason why dave is known as “the david bowie of craft service” {important note:  he is much younger than the real dave – and my dad, phew glad i remembered to say that}.

dave is an incredibly genuine and dedicated person. not only is he good at his job, but i have to say he’s a good lookin’ english fellow {and happily married to his awesome wife, shawn. who, too, is incredibly successful with her production company BISCUIT}.  dave is one of the first people on set in the morning and no matter how early, how cold, or how tedious the days have been, dave is there with a smile and a wicked sense of sarcasm. the kind of sarcasm that makes you laugh out loud and realize life is precious, but don’t sweat the small stuff {cliche, i know}.

i set out to count the number of trays one day, but lost track after it hit double digits.  as, i was sitting in my production office on the backlot of universal studios, i decided to count how many times dave came in with food (if you don’t know what craft service is, it’s the non stop trays of food, vitamins, snacks {healthy and also heavenly} food that we use to sustain our crews energy on sometimes 18-20 hours of continuous filming) . i have to admit as much as i nag everyone about waste in the film industry, i am still amazed about the hardest working craft service guy in the film industry. dave does an amazing job at gauging the number of servings, size of servings and quality of food to not make waste {which is not easy when feeding 40-100 people ALL day long}. on top of it all he does a perfect mix of healthy {fresh berries or veggies} and tempting treats {like english custard and apple tart} or staple items like a good cup of english tea.

if you need great catering for a party, give dave a ring at smoothies craft service, (818) 535-2654  smoothiescraft@mac.com

hire dave. not only is he an awesome person, his food is ridiculous. {plus shawn and he are having twins.}

giving is awesome… i’m proposing

UPDATE:

as much as it drives me crazy when other people extend deadlines and i get my in on time, i must do it this one instance.  my amazing friend, paola (mother to the double e’s), has just spread the “giving is awesome” link around children’s hospital LA, where she works in children’s blood disorders.

happy holidays!!!

-jenberry

As much as I love the holidays, I truly dislike the running around and scrambling for gifts. No, I’m not a scrooge or tightfisted, I just always wish I could do more for those that truly need. Normally, we donate to a local charity in our friends and family’s names (which we will still do). However, this year  (thankful to KRISTEN) I stumbled upon a way to give back the priceless gift of photography. I know I would have loved to have more pictures of my family from my childhood. The few ones I do have are deeply cherished and priceless.  This holiday, I will be donating my time and products to one deserving family.

So without further ado, in Kristen’s words… Please find someone to nominate or nominate yourself…

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.You know someone. I guarantee it.

…and I want to know them too! I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography…worth over $1000 The winner will get a free photo session, (3) 8×10, (10) 4×6 & (10) 5×7 and a free disc of images….and the awesome, heart-glowing thing is that, this holiday season, it’s in your power to give a really deserving family the artwork they’ll cherish.

Oh, and it’s pretty sweet for you too: the person who nominates the winner receives a $200 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be? {you can also donate your credit to a potential runner up}

The rules:

  • You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.) This is a karma thing, people, so please be thoughtful.
  • The nominee must reside in Los Angeles Area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself.
  • You must e-mail me the full story:   info@jenberry.com

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve {pending enough entries, otherwise it will be extended until Mid January}…so tell your friends, and get nominating! I can’t wait to read the entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season…and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

Happy Holidays,

Jenberry
