end to the summer…

really. it’s 7:10pm and it’s already dark outside. when did that happen? i used to love the dark and now it’s a bit annoying. it’s kinda difficult to shoot “natural light” portraits with out the second half of that phrase (especially when you have a day job).  however, there is nothing like that low lying fall sunlight. it’s amazing!!!!

i was walking around the bay area of los angeles today testing out a tilt shift lens that i rented. (darn it, i want one.) it’s so much easier to use then the lensbaby (my poor man’s rendition of a tilt/shift).  however, it is a bit of a specialty lens that would probably not pay itself off (yet) for me.  i think i’ll keep it for the week and have some fun.

i did find this little area today that i’ve been curious about, but never ventured past the pay for parking. great colors, textures and of course water (my favorite). now i just needs some peeps to photograph here.

don’t you wish golden sunlight wasn’t during rush hour traffic, the 5 (or 6) o’clock whistle?

a little montage of my afternoon walk today:

my sister gets married

I flew to england and arrived on Friday for an all day affair on Saturday. Yikes, it was a bit rough, but well worth the trip as it was very important to Nikki.  Even though we live a continent apart (england vs los angeles), I knew i had to make the 3 day trip (flying back to Los Angeles on Sunday morning).  The day was perfectly plan and I (as usual) was the bridesmaid and not the bride.  She did such an amazing job organizing everything herself from making the bouqets to the setting the tables. AND, to make it more complicated we celebrated my nephew (her son), aidan’s, christening at the same time. It’s hard enough planning a wedding, but to also handle a 1 year old and organize a christening. My hats off to her!

I know we are far apart, but Chris, Nikki and Aidan are very close to my heart.

Here are a few shots (as a guest, trying to stay out of the real photographers way).

Her Dress was amazing

always a bridesmaid…

i flew to england yesterday for my less than 48 hours of wedding phenomenon. my half sister is getting married today and i’m the “matron of honor” sounds so ooold! yikes! we’ll be christening my nephew as well. can’t wait to see them. however, i am a lil jet lagged. nothing biscuits and tea can’t fix (on constant drip).

walked around last night and was reminded why i loved living in england as a child…

baby berry almost here

Yeah.  My brother’s baby shower.  It’s my mom’s first real grandchild besides the boston terrier, Sparky. Things are revving up. It’s getting exciting. New babies are always sooooo exciting.  Need to resize the pictures from the shower, but for now, here’s one i like. wish i had a bit more light as it was outside at night. Next time.

lila & henry boone (& otis)

so lila is a good friend of ours from work. as a 1st assistant camera “wo”man on the set she’s subjected to “manly” working conditions. on a daily basis she carries around heavy film lens cases, motion picture cameras weighing over 100lbs. at the same time she has to act tough to keep away from the sexism that sometimes prevails film sets.  SO, all this brings me to the recent birth of her first son, henry. when i saw her, you could truly see the femininity that motherhood brings to a woman. she looked amazing just days after birth.

only problem. otis. he was a lil suspicious of the new boy in town…

Otis not so sure…
